Audrey Dwyer

Associate Artistic Director, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre

Audrey Dwyer is a multi-disciplinary artist with over twenty years of experience working as an Actor, Director, Playwright, Teacher, Artistic Director, Facilitator and Mentor.

In 2018, Audrey Dwyer was named one of the eighteen artists to watch by Now Magazine. That year her play, Calpurnia, became a box office hit on the Toronto scene. Calpurnia was named one of the five hottest tickets in Canada across the country by the Globe and Mail.

She began writing comedy as a member of Second City’s Touring Company and hasn’t stopped since. She is writing Come Home - The Legend of Daddy Hall for Canada’s Home for New Play Development, the Tarragon Theatre. It will be presented as part of the Tarragon Acoustic line-up in 2021. She is writing a libretto called Backstage at Carnegie Hall which will be produced in 2022.

She was a co-writer on The D Cut, a web-series produced by Shaftesbury Films. The D Cut can be found on Crave (Canada) and on Shaftesbury’s KindaTV Youtube channel. She was a recipient of the CBC’s Creative Relief Fund for her television series called The Gordons, which is inspired by Calpurnia.

In 2008, she was the Associate Artistic Director of Nightwood Theatre. In 2015, she won the Cayle Chernin Award for Theatre. She was the Urjo Kareda Artist in Residence at Tarragon Theatre (2018/19) and was also the Assistant Artistic Director. She graduated from The National Theatre School. She is the Associate Artistic Director of the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre.
