EMMA HENDRIX

Director of Video Pool Media Arts Centre

Emma is a sound and installation artist, sound designer, composer and the Executive Director of Video Pool Media Arts Centre. He has been active in the research and development of a Provincial Art Service Organization for media arts and digital practices in British Columbia, and has developed a practice around social purpose real estate and social enterprise for creative non-profits. Emma creates installations and performances individually and as part of Manufacturing Entertainment with Julie Gendron. His compositions explore the fundamental qualities of a multitude of sound sources, layering, dissecting and sculpting his sonic environment through analog and digital manipulation. He combines an extensive background in electroacoustic studies, analog and digital feedback, field recording, noise music, digital manipulation and experimental composition, as well as various electronic art installations. He is currently developing an electro-mechanical immersive drone machine.
