JJNeepinFilms Inc.

JJ Neepin is a Cree Director and Writer, based in Winnipeg Manitoba. She is also a member of the Fox Lake Cree Nation. Born and raised in the northern, nickel mining town of Thompson, JJ eventually moved south to Winnipeg for school and work. Eventually she turned her hobby of making home movies and writing stories into her career trajectory, followed shortly by her sister Justina whom both founded their company JJNeepinFilms Inc.


Their short films have screened in film festivals all around the world and have been broadcasted on national television; best known for their HEADDRESS and BAYLINE documentary short films.


JJ made her director debut with these documentary projects and later progressed to direct for APTN's Taken, The Other Side and Michif Country.
Transitioning to scripted television, JJ has directed for City TV's Hudson & Rex and CTV's Acting Good.


In between gigs, JJ teaches documentary and intro to film workshops for organizations such as the National Screen Institute and the Winnipeg Film Group.


In her spare time, she enjoys watching True Crime documentaries, reading Manga, writing stories, sketching comics and junk journaling.
