Kim Hsu Guise (she/her/elle) is the Feature Film Executive, Western Region for Telefilm Canada. Kim has over 20 years of experience in the film and television industry as a lawyer, business affairs advisor and production executive. She has a full spectrum of experience including negotiating production-related deal terms, assessing project pitches for financing, setting strategic direction, and building and leading a diverse team of industry experts.

Before joining Telefilm in June 2022, Kim was a consultant, advising clients on career development strategies with an equity, diversity and inclusion lens. Before that, Kim was the Director of Local Content at TELUS and the Executive in Charge of Production for TELUS Original Programming and STORYHIVE, overseeing a multi-million dollar portfolio supporting BC and Alberta filmmakers and cultural organizations. She played a key role in setting TELUS’ local content strategy and enabling TELUS to become an innovator and leader in local programming and the creative industries.

Prior to TELUS, Kim was an investment analyst in the western office of Telefilm Canada, where she was a member of a multidisciplinary team that delivered legal and business affairs expertise in all aspects of the development and production financing of screen-based projects. Before Telefilm, Kim was a financial services lawyer at a national business law firm with a practice that combined secured lending and entertainment law.

Kim has been recognized for her work. She was the recipient of the 2018 Women in Film and Television Vancouver Bron Iris Award which is awarded to a person who has demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of women creators and their screen-based works either through curating or programming, or through print and online media sources. Kim is also a 2016 Canadian Screen Award winner as the Executive Producer, Best Web Program or Series, Non-Fiction for "Secret Alberta: The Former Life of Amber Valley."

Kim is passionate about enabling people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to tell stories that are meaningful to them and their communities. Kim has deep experience designing programs and strategies to empower underrepresented creators and set them up for success.
