Liz Shorten

In her role at the CMPA-BC, Liz advocates for over 90 BC companies, helping to create policies and strategies to assist in industry growth.

She advocates for members with all levels of government and creates industry and export development initiatives. Liz is on the board of directors of Reel Canada and VIFF, is chair of Story Money Impact Foundation, president of Women in View, trustee of the Performing Arts Lodge Vancouver, vice-chair of MPPIA-BC and a member of its Education and Government Affairs Committees, and a member of the Advocacy Committee of WIFTV Vancouver and the Advisory Committee of the Motion Picture Arts Program at Capilano University.

Liz has been working to build capacity in the film, television and digital media sectors for the past 20 years. She previously held senior positions at the Ontario Film Development Corporation, British Columbia Film, and CBC Television.

Some of her favourite feature films hail from Atlantic Canada, including Thom Fitzgerald’s The Hanging Garden, which offers a unique interpretation of coming of age.
