Luke Rous

Luke Rous is an actor, writer and producer who co-owns the Johannesburg based Film and TV production company Rous House Productions and has worked in the South African TV and Film industry for 15 years, producing over 250 hours of prime-time programming and 2 feature films. Luke studied acting but soon found a passion behind the scenes on the set of the SABC sitcom City Ses’la which he acted in, co-wrote, co-directed and produced. Career highlights so far include a Rose D’Or nomination for best comedy series, Best SA short film at the Durban International Film Festival, a short film screening at the Cannes Short film Corner and the SAFTA award-winning drama series High Rollers which moved from a 26 part hour-long drama to a 300 part long running series, selling to multiple territories around the world. Among the 15 SAFTA’s received for productions Luke has produced, highlights include best writing for a telenovela (2017), best directing for a telenovela (2017) and best telenovela (2018). In 2020, Luke was elected to the EXCO of the Independent Producers Organization of South Africa and is the co-chair of the Broadcast sub-committee. Luke has a keen interest in international co-production as well as seeing the South African Film and TV industry become a more equitable, fair and robust environment. ​
