Rachel Beaulieu is Anishinaabe from Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation. Her work is influenced by her unique perspective as a First Nations woman and aims to make space for creators with a diverse vision.
Rachel has worked on short biographies and documentary films for the NSI, NFB and produced documentaries and narrative films for her own company, Can Dream Productions. She has had her audio and video production work on CBC, CTV, FOX, Al Jazeera, NBC, APTN, SHAW TV, Bell MTS. Rachel worked 8 years as the Audio Video Producer at the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre where she developed and created original content for cultural and educational purposes.
Rachel won the Gimli International Film Festival’s RBC $10,000 Emerging Filmmakers Pitch Competition and premiered Mèmére July 2023. Crush is winner of the Canadian Short Award at the 2024 Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival. Her documentary on residential schools, A Cup of Cold Water recently won the Manitoba Day Award. Her thriller film, "Ojichaak - Spirit Within" screened at Whistler Film Festival 2024 and recently won, audience choice award at WIFC screening at the Gimli International Film Festival as well as best horror film at Nunavut International Film Festival.
Rachel is an alumni of the National Screen Institute, Women in the Director's Story and Leadership program and the Tricksters & Writers program with Women in Film and Television Vancouver. She is also an advisor for the Winnipeg Indigenous Filmmaker Collective which provides monthly meeting events and training opportunities to Indigenous participants.
